2001 MODEL AZIMUT 68 PLUS MOTOR YACHT

The easiest blister/delam preventative measure is to dry store your vessel each winter off-season.

Dear fellow boat owners and buyers,

My name is Michael Previti and I am a marine surveyor based in Solomons, Md. I have had an office located at Zahniser's Marina in Solomons since 1990 and I have been involved in marine survey work since 1982. Initially, I surveyed part time while acting as general manager for Shepherds Yacht Yard in Solomons until 1989. I left the boatyard late in 1989 to start the first Osmotech Solomons, Inc, which specialized in the young marine industry of diagnosis and mechanical stripping of blistered and delaminated boat bottoms. I have been extremely involved in blistering/delamination, the causes and the repair options since 1982, when the science was in its infant stages. I was able to consult with a few excellent laboratories early on, including Dr. Thomas Rocket at the University of Rhode Island, who received the first Federal grant to determine the causes for blistering and delamination. We had been working together for two years prior to the grant. Since I've been involved in FRP/GRP composite evaluation for so long, I am considered an expert in the diagnosis of damaged or failed fiberglass construction, as well as state-of-the-art fiberglass repair methods pertaining to factory defect, or latent defect, damaged or failed composites, fiberglass blistering and delamination.

I remember how it was when I started boating with a small inexpensive boat, having a multitude of problems. I didn't have much guidance and proceeded to do many things the wrong way and waste money and time, but that was part of my learning process in the 70s. Having had several boats, wood and fiberglass, power and sail, up to 42 feet, as well as my valuable past boatyard and surveying experience, I strive to help others avoid the pitfalls and wasteful expense. Boating is a daily occurrence, inland or offshore.

Throughout this website, you will find a few sample surveys, pictures of vessel's I've personally evaluated and an article or two, as well as information you may find interested as you consider engaging the services of a marine surveyor and consultant. We will be adding information periodically, and over time the site will expand to be more interactive. Thank you for visiting this site and feel free to email or call with any questions or concerns you may have. It will be my pleasure to work with you.
